This category brings together skincare products for skin prone to flaking, designed to cleanse gently and restore comfort without forcibly removing the flakes. The selection prioritizes emollients, gentle cleansers, and lipid-rich formulas, with a focus on ingredients and practical application. The goal is to make choices based on dryness levels and surface skin renewal, rather than simply accumulating products with redundant functions. At Hitton, this selection reflects the work of an Occitanie-based farm specializing in organic donkey milk, aromatic plants, and artisanal soap-making. Product pages provide details on ingredients, usage instructions, and—where relevant—precautions regarding essential oils or sensitive periods. This approach helps create a clearer, more straightforward routine tailored to usage frequency and specific skin needs.
The first criterion is to start with the intended use: cleanse gently and restore comfort without pulling off flakes. A suitable product should address dryness and superficial skin renewal and be appropriate for the area where it will be used. The ingredient list can then help you understand the role of emollient treatments, gentle cleansers and nourishing oils and fats within the formula. A short formula is not automatically better, but each ingredient should have a clear purpose that is consistent with the product. Texture, frequency of use and sensory preferences also matter, because an effective routine is first and foremost one that can be followed regularly. At Hitton, the selection process focuses on natural products, agricultural and artisanal expertise, and clearly explained uses without multiplying claims. When in doubt, it is better to start with just a few products, observe how well they are tolerated and adjust the routine gradually.
Depending on the product, this category may include emollient treatments, gentle cleansers and nourishing oils and fats. Organic donkey milk holds a special place in the Hitton range: it comes from the farm’s own herd and is used in several soaps and cosmetic products. Aromatic plants are another key part of the farm’s expertise, particularly through the production of hydrosols and essential oils. For soaps, cold-process saponification makes it possible to produce cleansing bars rich in fats without using a pre-prepared industrial cleansing base. Plant oils and butters are selected for their role in texture, slip, nourishment or application comfort. However, the relevance of an ingredient depends on its concentration, the overall formula and how the product is used, rather than simply on its presence on the label. This is why the information provided on each product page remains the main reference when comparing two formulas.
A consistent routine starts with the essential step, then adds only those products that address an identified need. For dryness and superficial skin renewal, regularity and gentle care are generally more useful than rapidly switching between multiple different products. When a product is rinsed off, the recommended contact time and frequency of use should be followed; when it remains on the skin or hair, the amount applied should be kept moderate. Oils, serums and balms are often used in small quantities and can complement cleansing or water-based care depending on the formula. Essential oils require additional caution: dosage, method of use, age, pregnancy, breastfeeding and specific circumstances should all be checked before use. Introducing new products one at a time also makes it easier to identify any potential intolerance. This simple approach helps determine what genuinely works without turning the routine into an unnecessarily complex protocol.
Care products for skin prone to flaking should not be chosen solely on the basis of a keyword or trend: the actual level of dryness and superficial skin renewal should guide the decision. Occasional discomfort and a persistent problem do not necessarily require the same response. Other products being used, the season, washing frequency and exposure to external factors should also be taken into account. For sensitive skin or scalps, a patch test and a simplified routine can help assess tolerance. The precautions stated on the label and product page should be followed, particularly for preparations containing essential oils. This category is intended for cosmetic care and comfort; it does not replace a diagnosis or medical treatment when symptoms are significant, persistent or worsening. The purpose of selecting products according to specific needs is precisely to provide better guidance while keeping these limitations clearly in mind.
The starting points are gentle cleansing, hydration and distinguishing between cosmetic discomfort and a persistent skin condition. Then compare the intended use, composition and recommended frequency rather than relying on a single highlighted ingredient.
To compare formulas, look at the complete ingredient list, texture, application area and precautions. In this category, the most useful factors to consider are gentle cleansing, hydration and distinguishing between cosmetic discomfort and a persistent skin condition.
A product for skin flaking should have an identifiable role within the routine. If it already fulfils the intended function for visible flakes on the skin, adding a second similar product will not necessarily provide any additional benefit.

A sensation of heat, dryness, heaviness or unusual discomfort indicates that the amount used, frequency of application or combination with other products may need to be reconsidered. Introducing products gradually makes it easier to observe how they are tolerated. The right frequency depends on the function of the product and how well it is tolerated. Start by following the instructions on the product page, then space out or adjust applications if the skin, scalp or hair shows signs of discomfort.
