Aromatherapy

Organic essential oils hydrosols and vegetable oils — distilled on our Gers farm.

At Ferme du Hitton, aromatherapy is first and foremost a passion and a craft. For over ten years, Manu has been growing organic aromatic plants across 20 hectares: true lavender, Italian helichrysum, peppermint, rosemary verbenone, thyme and much more. In the height of summer, when the plants are at their most aromatic, he harvests and distils them straight away — the fields are less than five minutes from the distillery. Steam distillation yields two distinct products: the essential oil, a pure concentrate of active compounds, and the hydrosol, a gentle and versatile floral water.

Distillation is a craft. Getting the best from a plant means working at low pressure and low temperature — and that’s exactly what Manu does, sometimes from 7 pm through to 5 in the morning. It’s always a landmark moment on the farm. It means summer has arrived, the sun is out, and the cicadas are singing.

Our hydrosols are produced under optimal conditions: no more than 1 kg of plants per litre of floral water (often as little as 0.5 L per kilo), bottled in 200 ml opaque glass with no added preservatives. That ratio might not mean much at first — but some large brands collect up to 30 litres of hydrosol from a single kilo of plants. That’s not how we work.

The molecular composition of our essential oils is tested to confirm quality. The oils we don’t produce ourselves are sourced with the same standards: traceability, organic certification, verified botanical and geographical origin.

Whether you’re new to aromatherapy or an experienced user, we’re here to guide you. Reach us on WhatsApp at +33 7 65 66 68 16, or come and join one of our “Live a day in the life of a distiller” sessions at the farm.
